Slam ‘n Jam

A DOS game was developed by Crystal Dynamics, Inc. and then released by Left Field Productions in 1997, the game was called Slam 'n Jam. Now you can relive the memories by playing it online here.

Slam ‘n Jam description

Arcade basketball simulator in the 5x5 format, ported to PC from consoles and released without a license of the NBA, but using the names of two famous players - Johnson and Abdul-Jabbar.

There are three game modes - single match, season and championship. Of course, before the start of the game you can approve the composition of their team. Although the gameplay is very arcade, some characteristics (speed, ability to hold the ball, and so on) and stats of the players still exist. Very unusual is also the prospect of overview: camera during the match pinned behind one of the boards and slightly alters the position during the match. In each team, as already mentioned, five. Techniques is not much, but a jumping, qualifications and other pleasures look very spectacular, albeit totally unrealistic.

Generally, the schedule - perhaps the most important advantage of this game, even after the release of this component slightly criticized. Palette - SVGA, player models larger and even a little "blurry", but still clear enough to see the difference in the faces of the players and their emotions. There are even small shadows cast by the athletes, and even at times their reflections in the shining floor (!). The rostrum, as in most basketball games, there is no animation, but colorful. Overall - quite a decent old basketball arcade game, not claiming something more than just to bring a few tens of minutes of joy and good mood.
