Oil’s Well description

Cute puzzle with arcade elements that represent the oil extraction process in a very funny way. The screen is divided into two parts: upstairs – quite an ordinary oil field, and below – a veritable maze of tunnels, where we have to extract the oil.

Oil production is carried out by laying the pipe on this maze, the oil appears as white rectangles (...). Our task in each level is to collect (mine) all the available oil. But, of course, this process needs to be complicated, and so is – in a maze inhabited by various arthropods (spiders, beetles, ants, and so on) that crawl through its tunnels. If they touch some part of you paved the pipe – you lose one life. On the other hand, if the pipe will rest in them "drill", they will die and somehow give us a lot of points (that is, as it will give a lot of oil). There are also inanimate objects – bombs and anvils. With them all on the contrary: if they touch somewhere with the pipe – it's okay, but if they crash "drill", it will be bad.

Logical question: how is it possible to avoid contact of the tube with the enemy? The answer is simple: we may at any time, not only to expand the direction of its movement in either direction, but also to "pull" her back. That is, the tube here is a kind of movable flexible hose. And if we see, for example, that some part of the tube where the spider is selected, it is necessary to quickly "pull" the pipe back and turn the "drill" to him.

A choice of three difficulty levels, the difficulty here is primarily determined by the speed of movement of hostile creatures; however, on some levels, after collecting a certain number of rectangles of the oil game can to slow them down all that you deliberaly oil (bit of a simplification of course, but "official"). It is also worth noting that, of course, any level is significantly harder than the previous one.

Graphically, the game (and talking about the 1990 version, of course) looks quite good, especially for this genre graphics are the determining factor, of course, is: everything in moderation is clear, bright and beautiful. Regarding graphics, I can not say about another thing: between levels appear so-called "scene", well-drawn, but just terrible in itself. In the game world under the earth live some intelligent humanoid creatures with blue skin and elongated snouts, and each "scene" shows how dwelling in such a creature suddenly cuts into the pipe. The impression it produces is very unpleasant.

The verdict, however, is very interesting and after playing a few levels becoming really challenging puzzle, it is suitable for fans of the genre.
