Hocus Pocus

A DOS game was developed by Apogee Software, Ltd. and then released by Moonlite Software in 1994, the game was called Hocus Pocus. Now you can relive the memories by playing it online here.

Hocus Pocus description

The hero of the game - an aspiring magician, a kind of Harry Potter, trapped in a castle full of all sorts of dragons, bats, Scorpions, mad mushrooms, dragonflies, and other junk. Senior teacher Terexin, a kind of Gandalf, sends You to clean this house, from time to time encouraging optimistic phrases such as: "are You still alive?"

The game consists of four episodes with nine levels each. To complete the stage, you must collect a certain number of crystals. At the end of each level You have a chance to earn a couple of bonuses or a fully-assembled Treasure, or with the passage of time. The last stages in the episodes, the laws of the genre, Packed with bosses (rabid monkeys, wooden demons...), Prikosnovenie facing the imminent death of the boys...

The controls are simple: right-left-jump, in addition, you can shoot arrows, slightly like the sign "does Not fit. Kill!", and you can shoot both forward and upward. Schedule (including year of manufacture) drawn on the five plus. Throughout the course of the game (me) was spotted one flaw in the gameplay... not even a disadvantage, but nedostatek... if You are on the Elevator platform (which is controlled by the arrow up and down) and try to shoot flying above you is a bat, then nothing will come of this - the Elevator goes up, and You will get straight into the clutches of a mouse!

Sound effects similar to Prehistorik'push. Plus, there is good music. The game also contains Puzzle elements, such as combination switches, tricky mazes and crashing walls. While some negligence can fall into the trap. And most importantly - in this game there is no concept of life (no matter how many times you died, you start at first level) and here you can save!

Overall - a great arcade, which has everything (and even a little more), which should be in a real arcade...

P. S. what else, indeed, could be expected from Apogee...
