Hextris

Hextris is a Puzzle game released by Silicon Square Software in 1991. It is an interesting DOS game and a must play for all old videogame lovers.

Hextris description

One of the earliest variations on the theme of Tetris, aiming to make something original. What already did with the concept of Tetris to 1991: did the multi-colored blocks, changed backgrounds, added music, changed the angle, screwed pseudoreference, changed the shape of the figures and whatnot. How can that be? Here's how: to change not only the shape of the figures, but the shape of "glass". Now we have to deal with figures, consisting of squares as in the original, not even of the right triangles, as in some clones, and hexagon that tells us explicitly the name of the game. Of course, the classic "glass" to put the hexagons will not succeed, and he therefore acquired the characteristic notches.

The result is very good. The geometry changes have increased the variability of the falling blocks, so the process of putting some lines of the hexes will have to adjust even the seasoned players. It should be noted that such a concept had been used previously, but Hextris'have managed to gain public recognition and to make history.
