Birds of Prey description

Large-scale (primarily on the variety of missions in all senses) simulator dedicated to hypothetical battles between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the near (relative to the year of release) the future. To start the story about it is unpleasant – a game ported from the Amiga, and the DOS version not only the graphics are worse, but somehow missing the video with the background events.

The gameplay is probably one of the most complex simulations. The instrument panel is almost an exact copy of the real that are available for selection of aircraft here, more than forty (!!!), and every (!) of them at least something different from the other. The mission is also varied, and instead of possibly boring and usual for someone of patrols, escorts or air battles we are waiting for the attack on the enemy fleet, tanks, artillery and military facilities. By the way – the game was the first simulator in which refueling is carried out in the air. Available in a variety of types of monitoring what is happening, before every mission briefings are read.

But the game has one serious, in the opinion of many reviewers, the lack of mission maps. More precisely, the map is there, but one in the ENTIRE game. This map is big, but ALL the battles ALL the troops will only be conducted on it. In terms of graphics the game looks both beautiful and very seriously, this is a rare "severe" charm of the simulator. Verdict – one of the most beautiful, most complex simulation ever to appear on the light, but becoming after some time dreadfully monotonous. However, the advantages of this still does not cover, so all fans of challenging and realistic flight – must watch.

PS: Porting from Amiga to DOS was managed by Chris Sawyer, so why not ported roller – just do not understand.
