Oliver stone's "Platoon," one of the few about the Vietnam war, shown through the eyes of American soldiers, noteworthy (in my course, opinion), was filmed in 1986. And after a year it decided to make a computer game. Perhaps the money is then forced to abandon thoughts like "but tactfully you?" but the process of creating the game certainly came not as now.

Genre Platoon is a complex multi-faceted arcade, all following the "letter" of the film-the original. You play for those five American guys that in the sweltering jungles of Indochina must fight for what is unknown. Realism about a powerful close: a couple of hits and our soldiers are already dead. But it's not terrible (cynical, but what can you do?) – during the game you can switch between soldiers.
Four main aspects of the film and four episodes of the game. The first of these, the "side-scrolling" mode, you'll journey through the jungles of Vietnam in search of villages map. Will the explosion of the bridge, and enemy air attacks, and everything else. Then the game shifts to the "first-person", looking for a compass and flares in the tunnels. Flash will be needed later to determine in the dark the whereabouts of enemy soldiers and to have time to shoot before they shoot. Next, we are waiting for a massive airstrike and a very small amount of time to get to a safe place (here's the handy compass), but in the end, the battle and massacre of the traitor-Sergeant.
Despite the subject, to play this game very interesting, at least the fact that it is extremely "fast" for its time. Graphics for the year when at altitude – I especially liked the portrayal of the jungle. Dense vegetation drawn, so juicy, bright and high quality, which is almost physically feel the heat of the scorching sun and the seeming calm of the jungle, behind which lurks death.
Play hard – that's a fact. And after so many attempts there is some kind of spinal sense of alienation – "this foreign land". I guess this means that "the spirit of the movie" saved in the game completely. Recommend the game to fans of challenging arcades not worth it – I think they already drew attention to it; I would only note that only the plot (with all the reservations for me it's still a bad story) does not allow to put this game deserved a perfect score, which no doubt she deserves for all other parameters.
