Wolfsbane

In the year 1995, Merit Studios (Europe) Limited developed a Side view perspective game by the name Wolfsbane. You can now play it online here.

Wolfsbane description

Game rare games theme – the theme of werewolves, which, unfortunately, in the gaming world is far less popular than vampires.

In contrast to Inner Worlds – challenging arcade games on a similar theme – this time we have the quest in the style point-n-click, even with a decent action element. Our hero – a medieval merchant, who is on the road attacked and bitten by a werewolf. The dealer survived, but now it is the curse of the werewolf, whom he becomes in any case not willing. The challenge is to find a way to recover before the next full moon (that is, the game is time limited). Our hero is still human, so what, if anything, for the wolf is there to play will not work.

The interface is quite diverse as the gameplay itself: we can wander around a large medieval city, chat with various NPCs, completing side missions to earn money, to explore and collect objects in your inventory to fight with swords and so on. But most importantly – it's surprisingly dark, despite the overall brightness of the game, the atmosphere of terror and alienation. There are virtually no hints and even a strict storyline: this is how I want to look for a cure for lycanthropy – and they can, but not the fact that you will find, and the sand in the clock is inexorably spilling down...

After its release, the game received a solid portion of criticism – primarily for complex puzzles and challenging battles. Yes, easy life damned in the medieval town and no one promised. But, first, for many, the advantage rather than a disadvantage, and secondly- in this game, if someone "comfort", is simply phenomenal for its time graphics – bright, colorful, but not cartoonish, rather close to the medieval miniature (just look at the interiors of buildings!), that is to play visually very nice. Verdict – simply excellent game, one of the two (along with the Inner Worlds) of these masterpieces on the theme of werewolves, play that is everyone who is not indifferent to this subject. One can only regret that in the games she never received proper development.
