The Final Conflict

The very talented group, Impressions developed a Action game in 1991 and interestingly called it The Final Conflict. The game is so engaging that you will feel that “time flies”.

The Final Conflict description

The global strategy related to the type of so-called "risk-style". What is most surprising, this time in real time (!).

In theory here it is possible also to create your own scenario, but it is better to start to play the campaign. The effect of the latter (though it is not directly specified) takes place somewhere in the 70-80-ies of the last century - the era of the Cold war. Selecting one of the two superpowers - either the Soviet Union or the USA, you will again conquer the world.

The way to win an invasion in a hostile country or her Union, petty, or diplomatic games. By the way, before the beginning of the game you can choose whether you and the enemy means diplomacy (so you can play without it), an opportunity to engage in a war of nuclear warheads and the ability to use spies (just say - without this play quite interesting).

Each side has factories which produce abstract resources, ground troops, tanks, shipyards and construction ships. That will have to fight (or at least threaten to). The main aim of the game is to somehow learn the location of the main facilities (both military and civilian) in enemy territory, and then to aim at them, nuclear warheads (if you play with the possibility of their use, of course) - it will actually allow us to win bezogovorochnoj victory. It should be noted that as a strategic goal of the nuclear arsenals of the enemy is much more important than the peace of the city. If you're playing without the use of weapons - then just the boring "conventional" war or negotiations (if possible).

Diplomacy in the game, alas, are frankly rudimentary - at least in relation to the "main opponent". So its main purpose is to acquire new allies from neutral countries and to anticipate the possible dissatisfaction in the Union. But spies is more important - they extracted very valuable information, and most importantly - able to organize sabotage of enemy bases. But remember that if you have spies, and the enemy they too.

If played (one way or another - either at all or as an integral part of, and as part of it in any case) "normal" war, remember (especially if the fighting in a "small" country) that you are free to choose the nature of war: you can still bomb the city and destroy the population, and can lead the battle maximum humanely and then connect the conquered country to his unit, then will increase your overall well-being.

If enabled the possibility of nuclear war, to be sure, the likelihood that it will occur, it will be very high. But, as cynical as it may sound, that a nuclear war is the most fun part of a Final Conflict, its major surprise - after the game, then a while turns into an arcade. Against the background of Soviet or American city from the sky to the ground drop missiles and your task - not to give them to do, explode them in the air defense forces. By the way, this arcade part as fun as it is challenging (but with proper management it is possible that the city will not fall at all, no rocket!).

Graphically, surprisingly, the game looks great, but given the genre - just incredible, and not only in arcade mode. Maps drawn perfectly, but then will be even and beautifully animated, the reports of spies, meeting politicians and other pleasant things... In General very good strategy, albeit much of it retreating from the canons of the genre (at least that, I remind, all happens in real time), with a trivial plot, but brilliant realization, another beautiful work of Impressions Games. Strategy lovers who are willing to forgive small "necrosociety" should be like.
