The Cycles: International Grand Prix Racing

Accolade, Inc. developed a DOS game in the year 1989 called The Cycles: International Grand Prix Racing. In the video game ranking, this game ruled the charts for a very long time. You can now play it again online by clicking here.

The Cycles: International Grand Prix Racing description

Old, but very well made simulator.
Five levels of difficulty, from Easy to Pro, respectively. 15 tracks in different countries, the landscape of each track is different, which is certainly pleasing to the eye. Each track has its own high score table.

Three game modes: practice, single race and championship.
In practice, the player can choose any track and drive it as much as you want.

In single race you can also choose any track and drive the selected number of laps, but with opponents, and first we need to pass a qualification round to determine the position at the start. I must say that the AI is good, knows how to overtake and not to put forward (as opposed to, say, Wacky Wheels, where all competitors from the start of the race was lined up one by one and passed so the whole route).

In championship mode are invited to participate in races on all tracks in turn. At the end count the total number of points scored by participants, and under this are placed the place. Tournament, you can save between races. For the race you can choose one of three provided bikes, different characteristics.

The gameplay itself did not disappoint: the control is easy, but you need to be able to turn without losing speed, and glances at the mini-map, so as not to slip turn. To output the sound use PC Speaker, but used wisely, the sounds are quite distinguishable and do not cut the ear.

Though sometimes this simulator and gives some causality, it is still worth it to spend any more time on him. Enjoy the game!
