Slordax: The Unknown Enemy description

It is quite a usual arcade-letalka from the top view. The plot is as follows: there is a race of very powerful aliens Slordax's who hundreds of years ago oppressed other Nations, but then were banished from known Space out, now they're back (for some reason) to stop them can only your hero in his small fighter.

To describe the gameplay here is easy and difficult at the same time: if you have played any top-down-fly – then consider that nothing new will not see here: you just need to shoot at enemies and collect bonuses, although interesting points here. Powerups include extra health, a stronger attack, greater maneuverability and better weapons, but they occur here are quite rare. The game is difficult – then kill with one shot, and with the revival of the bonuses are lost. I would particularly like to mention the amazing for its time, AI opponents – they are aggressive, but smart attack, great maneuvering, can come to you in the rear, to get them is often very difficult, but to crash into them (which also leads to death), given the convoluted trajectory of their flight, on the contrary, just. But if you remember that the creation of this game had a hand in John Carmack himself, that much should be clear.

The action takes place largely in space and on planetary surface (although the first level is in space). Only five levels, but they are quite large. An interesting feature of this game – in its process to regulate the speed of the "scrolling" screen. Graphically, the game looks good – it is made in EGA-palette, but a bit unusual, because, frankly, great clarity of drawing and beauty of the landscape is no different; however, due to the extreme dynamism of what is happening to be distracted by such things once. We would like to note the variety and unusual types of enemies – because sometimes it is not very clear whether the misunderstanding of the hostile ship, or just a nonliving part of the environment. Verdict – an ordinary arcade game for time killing, complicated and fascinating, which including because of the rarity and sebitosi, will surely appeal to fans of the genre.
