Operation Europe: Path to Victory 1939-45 description
Game Operation Europe: Path to Victory 1939-45 is a PC-version of the famous strategy game for the SEGA Mega Drive/SNES. Like its console sisters, Operation Europe - turn-based strategy dedicated to the most significant battles of world war II in the European theater of operations. This German attack on France in 1940, and the battle in North Africa, the British-American troops with the African corps of Rommel in the years 1942-43 and Kursk 1943 (with its huge tank battles that changed the course of the war), and the allied landing in Normandy in 1944 (a favorite theme of Western gaming - and of kinodela), and the German offensive in the Ardennes in late December of 1944 (the second most popular topic of Western gaming - and of kinodela), and finally, the Soviet offensive on Berlin in April 1945 (unfortunately, the Berlin storm in the game will not give).
Although the essence of the game remained the same, the game itself has undergone significant changes - both in terms of graphics and in terms of gameplay. Resolution - 640x480 (against 256х224 on consoles). It is definitely a plus! The game menu (control shelves/divisions) has been changed - now it's style is more reminiscent of the menu from the game p. T. O. for all those SEGA Mega Drive/SNES. It's not for everybody... Changed the characteristics of certain units. It is also not for everybody. Well, the most important change - fight card. Instead of the usual picture (and I this game was played on the "live console"!) it is something quite different. Thumbnail image units, problems with the management of these same units - this is not a complete list of those "innovations" that they expect of the player. Last modified crossed out in one fell swoop all the advantages of the PC version of the game. But you can still play. The ability to survive is still there, you can also use the mouse instead of the keyboard.
In General, try to make it worth it. At least for fun... as the game is designed for DOS and I used DOSBox. The game starts without problems. Launching the file in the game KOEI.COM. NOT TO BE CONFUSED!
PS: For those who have bad history and remind us that the battle which in English is called The Battle of The Bulge, in Soviet military history called "the German Offensive in the Ardennes" and not "Battle for the pot," as it is sometimes translated, the name would-be translators (I have this "pot" is often met in books with descriptions of games for SEGA). Yes and no pot at all, but the ledge. Something like Kursk bulge.
