Might and Magic III: Isles of Terra description

Thanks to Might & Magic III: Isles of Terra epic M&M, in fact, widely recognized; the first two parts are unable to accomplish this task in a number of circumstances: graphics mediocre, repetitive and boring gameplay, and a shallow and overly mysterious story. In MM3, finally, revealed the background of the events and it became clear who are the Corak and Sheltem, and much more.

It begins with the fact that a group of six adventurers (according to this story Sir Caneghem (however, remind you of anyone?), Craig heck, Resurrectra, Maximus, Dark Shade and castor) are found several letters Koraka. After reviewing their contents, they realized that they are mandated to help Korakou to win Sistema. As the outcome of this event depends entirely on you. It should be noted that in addition to an introductory treatment of the letters, there is a large number of marks belonging to almost each location, where you have to visit.

In terms of game mechanics the whole is similar to what was in MM2. By default, we are given six of the aforementioned characters, but in any city it is possible to dismiss any of them, and to bring in a new one. You can also hire up to two mercenaries that requires a daily fee in specie, growing with the growth of their level. Races in game five: human, elf, dwarf, gnome and poluork (Hello MM9!), each of which has its own characteristics like the initial magic resistance or ability to steal. It existed in the last part of classes (Knight, paladin, Archer, Sorcerer, Thief, Cleric, Barbarian and Ninja) has added two new: Ranger (already has a Ranger skill) and the Druid (combines the magic of the Sorcerer and Cleric). Available to each class of certain types of weapons, armor, and spells (so, a Sorcerer would never be able to elegantly demolish the enemies head katana, but the Ninja can't throw at the enemy in a ball of fire).

Certain changes were additional characteristics of objects: previously, there was a list of about 250 items, and each of them had strictly specific properties. In MM3 using the new system: there is a list of items (weapons, armor, and miscellaneous), and the first two types can have two kinds of versions: first, their performance is affected by the material from which they are made, and, secondly, their special magical properties (fire damage, etc.). Thus, the probability of possible combinations is really huge.

The gameplay is also not left without a number of significant changes. The new interface greatly facilitated the process of the game - the side appeared nine buttons: melee, archery, book of spells, break, viewing notes Koraka/job list, time and date, to expel the player, view the quick reference for detachment and relaxation. During the battle, some buttons are replaced (on the block, running from the battlefield, etc.). And, as you may have guessed, the presence of buttons implies mouse support and all this taken together makes this game playable for those who are accustomed to the "modern" interface or just doesn't like pure keyboard play style. It should be noted that in this part there display those characters, which became a classic in the series of M&M. click on any of the characters, you can go to the description of its characteristics and abilities, and from there to the inventory, and more. In addition, there was another important change: previously, to detect monsters, it was necessary to "attack" the cage, where they are, and now they will see you and quickly run to meet you. Yes, now fights are not separate from the game world mode, and directly here and now (i.e. while you will fight one group of enemies, others will approach from all sides and wait for their turn). However, the number of enemies that you can fight in melee, limited to three: if you kill one of them, in its place there will be another, bude such to be around.

As for the graphics, here, finally, you can forget about the ripples in the eyes of the once new-fangled 16-color EGA: the image is now much richer in terms of palette, and the resolution of the image became big.

What can we say in summing up? Might & Magic III: Isles of Terra is a great RPG that has many advantages and great charm. I'm sure it will appeal to true fans of the genre, and fans of the world of M&M in particular.
