The game is a very interesting and exciting. First, there is a hotseat mode, you can play at least six of them. Second, despite the General banality of the plot (or rather, almost complete lack of it) and no campaigns (there are only 8 scenarios), the game has an almost infinite replaybility. It's all about the simplicity (which is actually quite deceiving), which in this case is the key to tons of fun. We are given a card (the dimensions depend on the scenario), the map is 6 castles, Lord of one of whom we are, and many neutral settlements. Other castles ruled by computercolleagues hotsitefriends connected by modem (by the way, obviously, the toy was done with sharpened under multiplayer there is no campaign; roughly speaking, we are dealing with strategic despatches. Also there is no diplomacy, but you can send messages to remote players, that is, all of a diplomatic mission assigned to us personally). The task is simple as the first Soviet tractor - capture all towns and castles, becoming the sole ruler of the earth. In General, of course, melancholy, BUT!

BUT number 1 - a Huge number of troops. Starting from basic infantry and archers, continuing the elves, dwarves, trolls, and even Musketeers and ending with several types of siege engines. Then a very interesting system of recruitment of troops in our castle, we are presented with a fairly wide range of warriors, typical of a medieval castle: infantry, archers, light cavalry, paladins, knights, and others. As soon as we capture neutral towns, we will be able to recruit soldiers available out there, it can be as the same "simple fighters" and all sorts of fabulously amazing guys, like elves or magicians. And here it happens to be the second BUT.

BUT number 2 – Well, first of all we must remember that the captured towns and villages won't love us just so. They should look to hire a garrison, to build fortifications, to follow the mood of the people, because dissatisfied with the city could raise a rebellion, and we have to take it to the new one. To maintain the "gayness" of citizens can organize festivals. So, kinds of festivals a few pieces. Then you and the swordsmen competition, and tournaments shooters, fighters, mages. Each festival attracts warriors from all over the country. Here it is, in fact, BUT the second: arriving participants to call into the ranks of his army - not for free, of course. And here again, you can get in your army rare warriors, crossbowmen or Musketeers, for example. In General, one action kill two hares at once – the people received spectacle (by the way, it requires and bread; village besieging army could burn the crops and to force the town to surrender without a fight), and we get powerful mercenaries.

BUT # 3 – Our army – not just a bunch of units; first, at the head of each army is the General. And it's not just a General, a leader, a spiritual inspirer and fathermothergirlthe granddaddy of all soldiers. General gains experience, his troops fight better together. Elite General, even those with modest resources, could easily make a cool crowd of soldiers under the command of a green rookie. The army without a General so far is a pitiful sight. And this is the moment you can use in achieving our most peaceful purposes. The army of the enemy can be sending hired killers who beheaded the army. Kinds of killers also a few from the unwashed "workers knife and an ax" (on the cheap) to expensive ninja. Of course, the professionalism of killers depends on the result: if the robber has almost no chance to sneak into the enemy camp unnoticed (although the chance is still there), the ninja will perform the task almost certainly.
More about armies. Our army consists not of unfeeling blockheads: the soldiers are tired and in need of food. Each course lasts a month, actually we have 30 action points for each army, this time you need to allocate properly, to give our soldiers a break in hikes and feed them – the hungry, the exhausted army under the command of a strong General could easily lose to a weaker, but well-fed opponent. Here, by the way, another interesting point: each town produces a certain amount of food - if you bring the army to the village and press the button feeding, the reserves of the army will be replenished quickly, but from the stock of the city. That is, in the city of food will be less, and may not be at all. What usually do in rural areas when they take food? That's right – begin to use forks, rakes, wheelbarrows and other garden tools for other purposes. So with the "nationalization" of products need to be careful.

And this is only half of all chips in play. I didn't mention about the features of the sieges of cities and castles, about random events (like plague or crop failure), the mode of ambush, when our soldiers are "hiding in the bushes" and attacked the unsuspecting army of the enemy, with a lot of bonuses (attacking from ambush, you can make a large army with a small detachment). In the end, the game is still espionage.

Finally I will tell about pretty formed by AI, fight which even at an average level of complexity is not easy. The only obvious disadvantage of the game – the lack of tactical battles, but the system of calculation of losses is done quite well; for example, having a large number of shooters, you can beat a stronger army with no shooters, and so on.

In General – very, very interesting thing. Recommend to all fans of strategies. Anyway, for a 92-year project, in my opinion, very worthy.
