Heimdall description

The excellent mixture of RPG, arcade and adventure in the entourage of the Norse myths.

Our hero – Heimdall (Heimdall), one of the gods of the Scandinavian Pantheon, which is necessary to prevent Ragnarok – the twilight of the Gods. As luck would have it, Loki, God of fire and deceit, stole the guns of the three "senior" of the gods, Thor's hammer, Odin's sword and Frey's spear and hid it in three different worlds. The goal of Heimdall is to pass these three worlds and find three artifacts.

I consider it my duty immediately to say that the game's plot is completely contrary to the true Norse myths. In mythology, ragnarök is the final battle between Good and Evil and then the death of almost all (but not all!) "good" gods. As the forces of Evil are the wolf Fenris (Fenrir), which is planted on the magical silk chain, and not just Loki, who was convicted for the murder of Balder, for eternal torture snake venom (he is chained to a rock cave and a snake is so much venom on his head). So please accept this discrepancy at once.

Worlds in Norse mythology, as we know, nine, we will visit only three: Midgard (land of men), Utgard (in this game – the land of giants; in fact it is again a mistake: the land of giants (humanoid, for there were others) was called Jotunheim and Utgard is a mysterious city with a powerful ruler, where you once got Thor) and Asgard, the land of the gods Aces (Aces to include all the main gods of the Scandinavian Pantheon, but it's not the only gods existing in it). That is, each of the three worlds in the game – it is like a huge (really huge!) level, consisting of several dozen locations and a huge number of screens.

The game starts out quite interesting: before you start the actual adventure you need to pass the three mini-games (!), each of which corresponds to a kind of "verification" of one of the skills of our hero (strength, agility, speed, although it is actually quite controversial, what is more important for their passage); how well you will cope with this task, depends how wide will the choice of characters you can have as party members (under ideal complete the mini-games will be available thirty heroes, the worse the games get, the less really good heroes left for choice).

Will focus on mini-games a little more. The first game is to throw a throwing hatchets tied the girl with the long braids. Task – to cut off her braids (severely), but not to hurt her. The complexity of mini-games in that the action takes place in a bar, Heimdall drunk, so the cursor shakes violently, and throwing hatchets accurately hard. The second game – fishing pigs: there is nothing technically difficult (to describe), you just need to catch up and catch the animal. Finally, the third game, the walking and fighting on the ship, where you need to move on deck, consisting of boards with openings, and fight the Vikings, who does not mind to throw us over the side (this should not be allowed).

After completing these "pre-tests" and the formation of the party starts the game – adventure game with an isometric perspective of the review. Battle with various beasts and people, solve simple puzzles, and progress through each huge level should be finding one of the weapons.

The graphics are excellent (especially the mini-games), it seems that we're looking isometric cartoon. The backgrounds and character models are bright, clear and very funny. As the game itself – despite the formally dark story, it is replete with many funny phrases and scenes. Verdict – almost a masterpiece "Golden age", amazing multi-genre game, which is perfect for almost everyone who loves old games.
