Betamax description

Betamax - a little-known side-scrolling shooter that was announced at the demoscene party, Mekka & Symposium, annually held in Germany in the late 1990's-early 2000-ies.

The gameplay is simple and clear - all as in hundreds of other representatives of the genre: our boat moves from left to right, destroying enemies. The plot is not observed. Opponents represent some balls: they are connected in the form of snakes or circles. Many of them flying in our direction, and hiding outside the screen, while others appear to us, and we need to knock down all the balls to our ship flew on. All the enemies shoot, and the main difficulty is to Dodge the pile of flying in our shells pretty hard. I would like to mention the original bonus system. Below are images of the six types of improvements - they are drawn in the form of key figures. All bonuses have a value, and they are shown from left to right in ascending order such. So, in order: speed, rate of fire, able to fire vertically, and diagonally, the bomb, missiles and protection. From wounded enemies drop green balls-bonuses. When taking one can immediately activate the speed increase, but if we want to improve something else, then collect the required amount of balls. Key you can press at the moment, starts blinking. The bonuses associated with the weapon to operate for some time, and indicators such as speed or shield can be upgraded three times.

The game does not support mouse and act on the keyboard is difficult, considering that the lives we have only three. Office of the arrows, ctrl - shooting, alt - activate the bonuses. However, complete Betamax is quite real (though not the first time) - the game is quite short, and is one long level.

Note drawing background: starry sky with the clouds looks great. But the ship and enemies could be given more attention. Good cheerful music accompanies us all the way.

This creature will be interesting to collectors, and to all fans of scrolling shooters should devote several tens of minutes.

Not sure how to pass your time, why not play our classic videogame Betamax online? And the best part, it is for free!
