Star Goose! description
Those who found the time taken from the work of HTSC and 286, will remember this game. How much time was she killed! But the idea of the game is simple - to fly a small vertically scrollarea level, collecting all the different colored stones (6 pieces), and get on opening the platform out. Levels are usually short and looped (and what you want from the game, using the only convenient memory?), but three-dimensional, isometric, and there is not an empty appearance of surface roughness interfere with the shoot, and also slightly speed up or slow down (down is faster, up is slower). The game is made to limit the technical possibilities of the time - no joke, for 1988 smooth scrolling in MCGA mode, and even with so many moving parts?! Yes, and the MCGA mode as such just appeared at the time and in fact even in games not used (SimCity was released a year later!).
Toy will capture the real hardcore, as a "shield" our Star Goose is not even enough to withstand one hit by a rocket! By the way, that "bunkers" with these missiles and are a major problem in the game, because to act against them need quickly and accurately.
In each of the eight levels you have to collect 6 colored crystals before you can advance. Here's a red one A group of enemy ground vehicles Surrounded by gun turrets; at the top of the screen you can see a tunnel entrance... ..Inside the tunnel you have to collect these blue eyes to replenish either your shield
Now, when you have DOSBox, to play StarGoose has become much easier, and not even the most rabid hardcore and Superman can go more than one level. Just decrease the number of cycles to something three-digit and will not need to memorize the moments when you need to release another missile!
Interesting "trick" games are special three-dimensional tunnels, here and there scattered throughout the level. They not only allow you to fill one of three options (ammo, protection, fuel), but to skip part of the level. Between the levels share the same tunnels, but these tunnels can only score points.
A pleasant surprise for me was the fact that after passing a level, don't take it again, until not coming out of the game so you can die as you want!
Keys in the game you can reassign, you do it by pressing F1.
Fans of Star Goose highly recommend the version of this game for Amiga computers, especially redesigned for WHDLoad! There is a little rules were revised - for example, "bunkers" do not kill the first time. Also it can be played with a joystick (but then someone has to sit behind a keyboard and rockets!). In this version, very nice graphics (smooth change palette during the game - lovely!), fixed some bugs.
upd: I want to get better - video games are still EGA, but it does not negate my admiration for its implementation.
