Ken’s Labyrinth description
This game is highly recommended to educate those who believe that Depth Dwellers, Nerves of Steel, Operation Body Count, Lethal Tender, Terminal Terror, and other "bad" action'y are the worst in the world. I assure you that after meeting with Ken's Labyrinth above things seem like pearls, and vertices of game development in this genre. At the same time KL is definitely not the worst game in the genre – is even worse - but still, it should be recognized that in this case we are dealing with what is called "Megatrade" (although in this case the use of this word is not necessary). But this is a game from Silverman, the Silverman, friends... He was only eighteen years...
"A boy rescues a dog" - this story, for some strange reason did not become still the subject of jokes and generator winged sayings is, in General, about the same stamp as the alien attack on the Earth, or world war III with the Russians. And it may well be that this game is his "mother". The plot is difficult to understand due to the extreme infancy; in short, the boy wanders through the dungeons (or sewers?), trying to save his kidnapped dog and at the same time, in between times, the world from some villains.
Of the advantages of game you can select a good old levels and trying to make the physics of the world is close to real world interactive (for example, it is possible to open the boxes, or even punch a wall!), and also the fact that the protagonist of the game sometimes comment on the events. Of the shortcomings – not very, to put it mildly, good graphics and lack of weapons in the hands of the character. And it would be possible to forgive and that, but the monsters are what makes any FPS good or bad the game is made poorly, as their appearance and behavior plan. It is difficult to say whether they thought initially so pathetic-funny or no: if Yes – that turned out not funny, and if not – moreover bad. Although some monsters still look funny, while admittedly having decent AI. Types enough of them: giant bees, different mummies, witches and creatures from the rubber, many others... And the weapons, though not seen, but it is also unusual – chewing gum, sunflower seeds, little rockets... the Role of first-aid kits and at all carry out cans of soda.
If you remember that this is the first game of a genius from the future games made by them at such a young age, that attitude is changing radically - you can see and a sea of truly youthful enthusiasm and huge talent of the author, who revealed a few years after its creation. In my opinion, Ken's Labyrinth now represents exclusively historical value and may be primarily interested in studying the history of gamedev and various engines.
