Crime Does Not Pay description
Rare and officially non-existent DOS-version ambiguously adopted, but, of course, a great Amiga adventure-RPG, without any embellishment and romanticizing showing the life of the mafia in the United States.
Your character in this game – the young heir to the once powerful but now rapidly losing the influence of the family. The former leader, the father of your hero, died suddenly, and the gang now serves you. Your task is to make the whole town again trembling in fear of the mere mention of your name, a rival gang disappeared as a class, and the stolen money started flowing into your pockets.
In your gang early in the game – funny and scary at the same time to tell only THREE people, and one of them is directly to you. The remainder is a grown-ass man-killer with a gun and a club, a real monkey in human form, which costs nothing to kill a man in the most savage way, perfect externally (in appearance only, alas) the girl performing the role of seductress-poisoner of your enemies and whatnot. However, such heroes will only be the case if you choose to play the Italian "family" - and you can choose and Japanese.
The gameplay is quite varied: there are moments of pure arcade platformer with a side view, and the true quest of the scenes with dialogues. The first mode operates on city streets on which you will spend a lot of playing time, the second – in the premises. City where the action is, surprisingly lively and interactive: there is not only you can go in almost in every house and talk to every person (and the town itself is a decent size), but to find directly on the streets (!!!) a lot of interesting things.
Yes, the above element is frankly the arcade, but he was there and I must say, looks quite organically. We've yet very tiny Empire, so the "dirty work" often have to do yourself. In same places you can find different recovering there bonuses, not only to replenish health, for example, but scene – for example, keys for entering some buildings (Yes, you can find them on the street).
And on the same street you can get hold of dynamite and blow up the Bank to improve their finances if they become very very tight, but it is clear that such an event is very, very dangerous – but the police does not sleep. Incidentally, in the game the police paid a lot of attention: police officers can be killed while performing some tasks (but that is hard to do – they have nearly impenetrable body armor), and it is possible (and so much better) to circumvent, and for this, you must first calculate the location of each on the street with a police radio transmitter which can be stolen. But you can just give a bribe. Keep in mind that sometimes the police cannot win, but they will not hurt anything to put you away, which means the end of the game.
Each of the three characters in the game, it can be said, a person with a certain set of skills, abilities and characteristics. Some qualities of a hero will initially be weaker than the others (well, not the girl as much health, how many thugs), others it is possible to pump over time (e.g., marksmanship). In each specific task, you can choose one of your characters, but here we must be cautious and carefully read the briefings (to understand who is better suited for this task). For example, she will not be able to fight with members of rival gangs and thug his appearance may attract unwanted attention of the police in some street in the mission.
To achieve its main goal of expanding the influence of gangs in different ways: if you want – Rob, kill, want, do extortion; want – fight with the police (I must admit that as enemies, the police is weak here), if you want to bribe them and of all officers of the law up to judges and the mayor of the city (in this game almost everyone and everything have their price), or you want to bribe voters and they themselves become the mayor... it can be everything. Almost. However, it is necessary to warn that, probably just to kill all the unwanted you can not, someone will still have to give "on a paw".
Graphically this game looks like a "serious" cartoon, especially a beautiful picture in the quest (ie the first person in the premises), so in visual terms no complaints. Claims can be unless the game itself because of its story and morals, but don't rush to judge her strictly. It is quite serious in terms of gameplay, despite a number of elements, but she really does not romanticizes and praises crime – just shows it for what it is. And this ruthless honesty looks winningly and unusual. In fact, fans of games like this thing and can recommend.
