Fate description
Play this first person shooter on the engine Build, which was released in 1996, very sad. Sadly despite the fact that it is truly wonderful. IntraCorp, the developer of Fate, went bankrupt and was unable to finish the game, depriving fans of the genre, possibly one of the best of its representatives. All that was left available from the game - this demo version, although there is a rumor that the game was almost ready.
The story: the action takes place on the planet of Pimentos (located on the strange level of technological development), which is captured by the hordes of aliens resilience (similar to Buddhist monks, which are different beasts), priests "Father" they want to return to this world. The player acts as the captured local soldier who placed in the temple for questioning, but have to run out of there and, apparently, destroy the plans to expel the invaders. The plot, incidentally, is described in detail in the introductory clip in the cutest of drawings (something similar we saw in the Strife).
That Fate is good? We can say that the answer is too trivial, but all. It really has it all. The atmosphere is simultaneously a fantasy and a bit technocratic world. Interesting weapons. Great opponents – monsters, and such, the names of whom think hard: green skinned humanoids, anthropomorphic Scorpion that shoots fireballs... lots of secrets – the first can be found in the first room. A number of interesting traps that utilize the game with a series of Heretic-Hexen. Highly interactive environment – many objects can be moved or destroyed, often it's important to the plot (the same barrels contain a lot of good, but on the other hand, can be used as a platform to jump). Here we come to another amazing plus of the game: from the first level you are given a few (!) possible passage of certain segments! Of course, the apparent nonlinearity here, but it is still, albeit in a very small dose, has.
Graphics are on par with 1996, that is a 2.5 D shooter with large and clear sprite monsters and items. That is the best you could wish yourself one who remembers and loves the game the mid-1990s.
Fate, unfortunately, is too short and contains only four levels, each of which is not too large. Complex, even at the highest difficulty level, it is also not called. However, with the role of "the cure for nostalgia," she can do it very well – just need to ensure that it is not called nostalgia even more: the realization that THIS could become a full-fledged game, but will never be, can cause more pain than apt to hit another Zelenikovo...
Not sure how to pass your time, why not play our classic videogame Fate online? And the best part, it is for free!
